Privacy Policy

Effective July 11, 2026

Cascade Virtual Airlines (“Cascade Virtual,” “we,” “us”) is a volunteer-run virtual airline community. This policy explains what information we handle through cascadevirtual.org, the CXV Portal, and related community operations.

Information we collect

When you join, we collect your name and email address. Your account also contains an internal pilot identifier, home hub, account status, authentication identifier, preferences, progression, badges, virtual-currency activity, and onboarding state.

When you use the Portal, we receive operational flight records such as route, aircraft, timestamps, simulated position track, distance in nautical miles, altitude, speed, fuel, landing rate, passengers, simulator safety flags, PIREP notes, bid or event participation, and dispatch information. Staff actions and security-relevant account activity may also be logged.

How we use information

We use information to operate accounts; authenticate members; record and review virtual flights; calculate statistics, progression, and rewards; provide dispatch, event, marketplace, notification, and support features; prevent abuse; troubleshoot failures; and improve Cascade Virtual.

Public information

Public roster and profile pages may show your pilot identifier, display name, hub, approved flight totals, destinations, badges, role, and other community achievements. We do not intentionally publish your email address, password, authentication tokens, precise live location history, private notes, or administrative data.

Service providers

Supabase provides database, authentication, file storage, and related backend services. Netlify hosts and delivers the website. Operational links may also connect to Discord, SimBrief, VATSIM, Microsoft Flight Simulator, or other services you choose to use. Those services process information under their own policies.

Retention and security

We keep account and flight records while needed to operate the airline, preserve logbooks and community history, resolve disputes, and protect the service. We may retain limited audit or backup records after an account closes. The Portal encrypts its saved sign-in session for the current Windows user. No system is perfectly secure; members should use a unique password and protect their computer and email account.

Your choices

You may ask staff to review, correct, export, or delete personal information, subject to operational, security, backup, and record-integrity needs. You may opt out of discretionary notification categories in the Portal. Public-profile visibility requests are handled when reasonably feasible.

Children

Cascade Virtual is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information should contact staff.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. Privacy questions or requests may be submitted to Cascade Virtual staff through the official Discord linked from cascadevirtual.org.
